Samsung SCH-W960 - Το πρώτο κινητό με 3D οθόνη

Η Samsung παρουσίασε επίσημα το SCH-W960 AMOLED 3D, το πρώτο κινητό στον κόσμο με δυνατότητα απεικόνισης 3D «εικόνων», χωρίς μάλιστα να είναι απαραίτητη η χρήση ειδικών γυαλιών. Μολονότι η συσκευή απευθύνεται αποκλειστικά στην κορεάτικη αγορά, η κυκλοφορία του σηματοδοτεί ουσιαστικά την έλευση της τρίτης διάστασης και στις οθόνες των κινητών τηλεφώνων.

Η μετάβαση στη λειτουργία απεικόνισης τριών διαστάσεων, θα γίνεται απλά με το πάτημα ενός πλήκτρου με την ένδειξη «3D», που βρίσκεται στο πλαϊνό τμήμα της συσκευής Πέραν τούτου, το AMOLED 3D θα είναι εφοδιασμένο με το UI Touch Wiz 2.0, καθώς και με ένα αριθμό gestures ώστε να δίνεται η δυνατότητα στον χρήστη να εκτελεί ορισμένες από τις λειτουργίες του τηλεφώνου απλά με μία κίνηση των... δαχτύλων του.

Στο βασικό εξοπλισμό της συσκευής, περιλαμβάνεται και δέκτης ψηφιακής τηλεόρασης Dual DMB. Η 3D απεικόνιση πραγματοποιείται στην οθόνη αφής των 3,2 ιντσών, ενώ υπάρχει και υποδοχή για την τοποθέτηση καρτών μνήμης microSD.

Με την ολοένα και αυξανόμενη τάση διείσδυσης της τρισδιάστατης απεικόνισης στον χώρο της τεχνολογίας, το μόνο σίγουρο είναι πως με τον καιρό θα αρχίσουν να πληθαίνουν συσκευές που θα φέρουν ανάλογες δυνατότητες. Όπως ήδη αναφέραμε, η συσκευή προορίζεται αποκλειστικά για την κορεάτικη αγορά και αναμένεται να κυκλοφορήσει μέσα στο τρέχον τρίμηνο. Για την ώρα, δεν είναι γνωστό αν η Samsung σκοπεύει να διανέμει το SCH-W960 (ή κάποια άλλη συσκευή με οθόνη τριών διαστάσεων) σε άλλες περιοχές του πλανήτη...

Splice Director Helming Neuromancer

Columbia Pictures Announces Men in Black III in 3D

Columbia Pictures announced today that Men in Black III will be released in 3D on May 25, 2012. Walter F. Parkes and Laurie MacDonald are returning to produce and Barry Sonnenfeld, who directed the first two installments of the blockbuster franchise, will direct the film from a screenplay written by Etan Cohen, based on the comic book by Lowell Cunningham. Steven Spielberg is set to executive produce.

Deals are set for Will Smith, Sonnenfeld and the producing team to return to the blockbuster franchise with the intent to begin production by this fall and the studio is in advanced negotiations with Tommy Lee Jones to reprise his role as Agent Kay. Josh Brolin is also in talks to star as a young Agent Kay.

3 Alternate Endings to "Lost" to Air

ABC has announced that as part of the "Jimmy Kimmel Live: Aloha to Lost" special, the network will show three alternate endings:

Following the final episode of "Lost," Jimmy Kimmel will host a one-hour post-show discussion and celebration of the beloved series, SUNDAY, MAY 23 at 12:05 a.m., ET on ABC, following local news.

Kimmel will be joined in studio by Naveen Andrews, Nestor Carbonell, Alan Dale, Jeremy Davies, Emilie de Ravin, Michael Emerson, Matthew Fox, Daniel Dae Kim, Terry O'Quinn and Harold Perrineau, with special appearances by Jorge Garcia, Josh Holloway and Evangeline Lilly and an exclusive look at THREE ALTERNATIVE FINAL SCENES from the minds of executive producers Damon Lindelof and Carlton Cuse.

Jimmy Kimmel Live has been deluged by more studio audience ticket requests for this special than any show in its seven-plus year history. Watch the grand finale to the grand finale on "Jimmy Kimmel Live: Aloha to Lost."

Planet of the Apes Prequel Release Date

The biggest news today is that 20th Century Fox has officially announced details on their upcoming Planet of the Apes prequel, tentatively titled Rise of the Apes, which will start shooting this summer. Fox has also set Rise for release on June 24th, 2011 next summer. In addition to confirming that The Escapist director Rupert Wyatt will be directing from a script written by Amanda Silver & Rick Jaffa (both of The Relic), Fox announces that Weta Digital (who did the VFX on Avatar) will render, for the first time ever in this series, photo-realistic apes rather than costumed actors. A few other studios have announced major release dates.
