Βιβλιοθήκη από τη ...Google!

Τη Δευτέρα (06/12), η Google ξεκίνησε τη διαδικτυακή της βιβλιοθήκη, η οποία ήδη περιλαμβάνει πάνω από τρία εκατομμύρια ψηφιοποιημένους τίτλους!
Πολλοί από αυτούς προσφέρονται εντελώς δωρεάν, ενώ τα βιβλία είναι προσβάσιμα μέσω της ιστοσελίδας books.google.com και μπορούν να "φορτωθούν" σε οποιονδήποτε υπολογιστή μέσω σύνδεσης στο internet, είτε μέσω ειδικών εφαρμογών για φορητές συσκευές.

Σε αυτές συμπεριλαμβάνονται και κινητά τηλέφωνα, που λειτουργούν με το σύστημα Android, το οποίο, έχει σχεδιαστεί από την Google, και τα προϊόντα Apple όπως το iPhone και το iPad.

Εκπρόσωπος της Google, η Τζίνι Χόρνουνγκ δήλωσε πως ''πιστεύουμε ότι αυτή θα είναι η μεγαλύτερη ηλεκτρονική βιβλιοθήκη στον κόσμο, καθώς μαζί με τα δωρεάν βιβλία θα περιλαμβάνει 3 εκατ. τίτλους."

Η συμφωνία, ύψους 125 εκατ. δολαρίων, βρίσκεται στα σκαριά εδώ και δύο χρόνια, συναντά όμως αντιδράσεις από ανταγωνιστές της Google, από οργανώσεις καταναλωτών, ακαδημαϊκούς, ακόμα και από κυβερνήσεις, οι οποίες ανησυχούν ότι η αμερικανική εταιρεία αποκτά υπερβολική δύναμη στην αγορά βιβλίου

Διά στόματος του Howard Stringer, προέδρου της Sony, είναι εφικτό...

Σύμφωνα λοιπόν με τις πρώτες πληροφορίες που διέρρευσαν... επισήμως διά στόματος του προέδρου της Sony, οι Ιάπωνες έχουν βάλλει στοίχημα το παγκόσμιο πρωτάθλημα ποδοσφαίρου το 2022 να μεταδοθεί και σε ολογραφικό 3D.

Tι σημαίνει αυτό; Τρισδιάστατη εικόνα αλά Star Wars... ολογραφικά... μέσα στο χώρο, χωρίς μέσο προβολής!

Ο καθηγητής Murai, τεχνικός διευθυντής στην επιτροπής που έχει αναλάβει το όλο concept, ήταν κατηγορηματικός: "Το έργο μοιάζει με σενάριο επιστημονικής φαντασίας, αλλά πρέπει να δούμε πώς η τεχνολογία θα εξελιχθεί τα επόμενα δώδεκα χρόνια. Νομίζω ότι θα είναι έτοιμο το 2016 ", δήλωσε σε συνέντευξη Τύπου στο Τόκιο.

Τα μεγέθη είναι εκπληκτικά. Για την κάλυψη ενός γηπέδου θα χρησιμοποιηθούν 200 3D κάμερες και άλλα τόσα μικρόφωνα!

Iron Man 3 is a Sequel to The Avengers, Thor & Captain America?

While Marvel's ambitious cinematic universe will get a huge growth spurt next summer with the release of Thor and Captain America: The First Avenger, it will be the ensemble superhero film The Avengers that will determine the future of several comic book franchises. As a matter of fact, director Jon Favreau seems to already be looking into the future beyond ensemble tentpole and has some thoughts on Iron Man 3. Without mentioning any details, Favreau told MTV, "In theory, Iron Man 3 is going to be a sequel or continuation of Thor, Hulk, Captain America and Avengers." That would explain why so much of Iron Man 2 was used to set-up The Avengers. However, he's careful to point out that he's only had fleeting discussions with Thor director Kenneth Branagh and The Avengers director Joss Whedon, and that they're not even sure about the future of Marvel's universe. Favreau said, "I've talked to Kenneth Branagh. I've met the cast members. I had a conversation with Joss Whedon in passing, giving him my two cents about the film. This whole world… I have no idea what it is. I don't think they do either, from conversations I've had with those guys." And while Favreau has mentioned he'd like to include arch nemesis Mandarin in the next sequel, there's a lot of time between now and just the thought of pre-production on Iron Man 3, so anything can happen.

Neill Blomkamp Reuniting with Sharlto Copley for Sci-Fi 'Elysium'

Back when they still needed a director for The Hobbit, there was a short-lived rumor that Peter Jackson collaborator and District 9 director Neill Blomkamp was in the running. However, when that rumor was debunked, we discovered that he was actually working on another original sci-fi flick called Elysium. Now that Jackson is going back to his past in Middle Earth with The Hobbit, it seems only fitting that Blomkamp is returning to his first success as Deadline reports he will reunite with District 9 star Sharlto Copley for the secretive sci-fi project that's currently being shopped around to studios and "there is a lot of interest." Of course, Copley found himself launched into stardom after District 9 as he next took a major role in The A-Team alongisde the likes of Liam Neeson and Bradley Cooper. In addition, the actor apparently has some sort of role in the upcoming sequel Men in Black 3D. As for Elysium, Copley is one of the few details known of the new project, and he's the only actor cast thus far. Apparently Blomkamp's pitch to studios for the film includes a graphic novel as part of the presentation (which is how Jackson noticed Blomkamp/District 9 to begin with) and the story is set in the far future on another planet. Whatever studio picks up the project is looking for the same success with a film that only cost $30 million to make, but raked in over $210 million in box office worldwide. Personally, I can't wait to see what Blomkamp has up his sleeve.
