ComingSoon reports that Disney has scheduled Andrew Stanton's upcoming epic live-action adaptation of Edgar Rice Burroughs' John Carter of Mars for release on June 8th, 2012. I originally predicted that they would schedule it for the late December spot that Tron and Avatar had, but it looks like they want to open it as a big summer blockbuster around the same weekend as X-Men: First Class opens next summer (2011). Disney also scheduled a 2012 release for Tim Burton's Frankenweenie movie.

Disney Sets John Carter of Mars Movie for Release June 2012
