Fangland, published in 2008, follows Evangeline, an ambitious associate producer of The Hour ("the most successful news show in American television history") who is sent on assignment to Transylvania to evaluate a possible story on Romanian reputed crime lord Ion Torgu. She ends up getting "more than a story" when mysterious e-mails, coffins, and a creepy guy descend on the New York office. "A scary twenty-first-century take on the stuff of Dracula, worthy of its rightful place among others." Sounds like perfect for Carpenter tackle and hopefully it will be a return to form. Looking forward to seeing how The Ward turns out first.

John Carpenter to Direct Adaptation of John Marks' Fangland
ComingSoon says Carpenter has been hired by Blumhouse Productions to direct an adaptation of John Marks' novel Fangland. Apparently this project has been in development for a while and even has Hilary Swank attached to star in the film as Evangeline Harker, a producer of a TV news magazine eerily similar to "60 Minutes." Sounds pretty cool.
