Toshiba BDX2000 Bluray Player
The newly-unveiled BDX2000 will carry an SRP of $249.99 when it arrives in stores in November. The player will feature full Profile 2.0 (BD-Live) functionality, an SD card slot for memory expansion, compatibility with all Blu-ray lossless audio formats (Dolby TrueHD, DTS-HD, etc) and even AVCHD playback. Interestingly, it will NOT play Toshiba's own now-defunct HD-DVD software, nor does it feature Toshiba's much-ballyhooed XDE upconverting technology. However, it doesn't need to - as a Blu-ray player it's capable of upconverting standard-definition DVD material to 1080p 24fps. You can read more here via the company's official press release, and you can also read a little bit more on Toshiba's promotional splash page for the player.
