2010 : The Year We Get 3DTV !!
The Consumer Electronics Show is making news with the coming of 3DTV. A timeline:
* MAY 2010: LG's first 3DTV set hits the market. The new sets are expected to cost $200 to $300 more than comparable 2D sets. More manufactures are expected to make announcements about 3DTV sets Wednesday.
* JUNE 2010: DirecTV launches three HDTV channels. "At launch, the new DIRECTV HD 3D programming platform, powered by Panasonic, will offer a 24/7 3D pay per view channel focused on movies, documentaries and other programming, a 24/7 3D DIRECTV on Demand channel and a free 3D sampler demo channel featuring event programming such as sports, music and other content," according to a Jan. 6 press release.
* SUMMER 2010: The Entertainment and Sports Programming Network (ESPN) launches a 3DTV channel.
* 2011: Discovery, Sony and Imax team launches a 3DTV channel.
Expect a lot of original programming and movies like "Chicken Little" and "Avatar" that were made in 3D. While it's a relatively simple process to convert an old film print to HD, converting old-fashioned 2D movies and TV shows to 3D is apparently proving much more labor-intensive.

Avatar Becomes the #2 Film of All Time!
James Cameron's Avatar became the second-highest grossing film worldwide of all time on Wednesday, its 20th day in theaters.
Domestically, the blockbuster added $6.91 million to push its total to $374.4 million. The film has climbed to the 12th spot on the all-time domestic list, surpassing Spider-Man 2 ($373.6 million).
Internationally, Avatar has earned $760.9 million.
The combined worldwide total stands at $1,135,383,229, which surpasses The Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King's $1,119,110,941. The movie now only trails Cameron's own #1 global blockbuster Titanic, which earned $1,842,879,955.

Τα Windows 7 διαθέτουν εξαρχής πάρα πολλές νέες λειτουργίες, με τις οποίες, ίσως, να έχετε πειραματιστεί ήδη. Αυτό, όμως, που δεν ξέρουν πολλοί είναι το εξής: με ένα μικρό τρικ μπορείτε να ενεργοποιήσετε και μερικές έξτρα λειτουργίες του λειτουργικού. Γι' αυτό το σκοπό θα χρειαστείτε το freeware πρόγραμμα Preme for Windows 7, το οποίο εκτός του ότι κάνει πιο άνετη την εργασία σας, εξοπλίσει το λειτουργικό σύστημα με νέες λειτουργίες. Αφού κατεβάσετε, εγκαταστήσετε και τρέξετε το πρόγραμμα, επιλέγετε ποιες έξτρα λειτουργίες θέλετε να ενεργοποιήσετε.
Έτσι μπορείτε, για παράδειγμα, να απεικονίσετε όλα τα ελαχιστοποιημένα παράθυρα με ένα εντυπωσιακό τρισδιάστατο τρόπο ή με ένα πιο οικείο "Alt-Tab" στιλ.
Με το που μετακινήσετε το δείκτη του ποντικιού πάνω από το κουμπί Start, ανοίγει το σχετικό μενού, ενώ με ένα διπλό πάτημα του πλήκτρου [ESC] κλείνουν αυτόματα όλα τα ανοικτά παράθυρα. Και αν οι πολλές εξτρά λειτουργίες σας μπερδεύουν μπορείτε να ζητήσετε από το πρόγραμμα να σας κάνει ένα live demo.

People’s Choice Awards 2009
Η πρωταγωνίστρια της ταινίας "The Blind Side" κατάφερε να αποσπάσει το βραβείο από τις υπόλοιπες υποψήφιες Τζένιφερ Ανιστον, Άν Χάθαγουεϊ, Ντριου Μπάριμορ και την Κρίστεν Στιούαρτ, και ονομάστηκε αγαπημένη ηθοποιός για τα 36α ετήσια βραβεία People’s Choice Awards, που μεταδόθηκαν από το Nokia Theatre του Λος Άντζελες την Τετάρτη.
Το "Twilight" αποχαιρέτησε τη βραδιά με τέσσερα βραβεία: αγαπημένη ταινία, αγαπημένο σίκουελ, κορυφαία ομάδα ηθοποιών stars και ο Τέιλορ Λότνερ κέρδισε το βραβείο του αγαπημένου ηθοποιού σε breakthrough ταινία.
Σημαντικές διακρίσεις στην κατηγορία των ταινιών δέχθηκαν επίσης ο Τζόνι Ντεπ, ως αγαπημένος ηθοποιός και ο Χιου Τζάκμαν, ως κορυφαίος ήρωας δράσης για το ρόλο του στην ταινία "X-Men Origins: Wolverine."
Από το χώρο της τηλεόρασης τιμήθηκε η σειρά "House", για την καλύτερη δραματική σειρά και το "The Big Bang Theory" για την κορυφαία κωμωδία.
Μουσικά τρόπαια κέρδισαν η Κάρι Άντεργουντ ως αγαπημένη τραγουδίστρια της κάντρι μουσικής και η Τέιλορ Σουίφτ ως αγαπημένη καλλιτέχνις. Ο Κιθ Έρμπαν αναδείχθηκε αγαπημένος καλλιτέχνης και η Μαράια Κάρεϊ αγαπημένη R&B καλλιτέχνης.
Η Σάντρα Μπούλοκ διακρίθηκε για τους ρόλους της στις ταινίες "The Proposal" και "The Blind Side", στην οποία υποδύεται μια γυναίκα που βοηθά ένα άστεγο αγόρι να γίνει αστέρας του ράγκμπι. Η ίδια έχει κερδίσει υποψηφιότητες στα βραβεία Golden Globe και Screen Actors Guild ενώ βρίσκεται ανάμεσα στα ονόματα που συζητούνται για υποψηφιότητα στα Όσκαρ.
Οι νικητές των People's Choice Awards επιλέγονται απ’ ευθείας από το κοινό. Συνολικά συγκεντρώθηκαν εξήντα εκατομμύρια ψήφοι στην online ψηφοφορία.

Toshiba and RealD Collaborate to Bring 3D to the Home
Toshiba Corporation and RealD today announced that the companies will cooperate in bringing 3D technology to Toshiba TVs, including support for the stereoscopic RealD Format, as Toshiba advances development of REGZA TVs able to deliver HD quality 3D content. The companies will also work together on technology for active eyewear compatible with Toshiba 3D-enabled displays.
"Toshiba plans to introduce 3D into our REGZA line-up of Full-HD LCD TVs in 2010, and we are delighted to work with RealD, the clear leader in the industry," said Masaaki Osumi, President and CEO, Digital Media Network Company, Toshiba Corporation. "Home viewing is fast moving toward the total immersion offered by 3D, and Toshiba is determined to be in the vanguard in delivering this experience."
"3D is opening new opportunities for home entertainment and we look forward to collaborating with Toshiba to bring an unmatched 3D experience to their products," said Michael V. Lewis, Chairman and CEO of RealD. "RealD 3D technology has revolutionized cinema and the RealD Format promises to deliver a similar premium entertainment experience to the home utilizing today's existing HD infrastructure."
The RealD Format is a proprietary version of a side-by-side 3D format that multiplexes a left eye and right eye 3D image stream into a single channel for delivery of HD 3D content to any 3D-enabled display type – plasma, LCD or DLP. The RealD Format uses a unique set of proprietary filters and other technologies making it compatible with today's HD infrastructure for high quality 3D delivered via cable, satellite, packaged media or the internet.
