17 Minutes of Lost Footage from '2001: A Space Odyssey' Found!

Warner Bros has discovered 17-minutes of cut footage that was presumed lost.

In a long chain of discovery, The Film Stage learned this info from Blastr, who translated an article from Forgotten Silver reporting on the documentary duo whilst speaking at a special screening of a 70mm print of 2001: A Space Odyssey (did you get all that?). In addition, they've hypothesized that much of the footage is what ended up on the cutting room floor after the initial 160-minute running time from the 1968 premiere was reduced by 19-minutes later on. IMDb says some of the cut footage includes "a scene where HAL severs radio communication between the Discovery and Poole's pod before killing him," plus "an entire sequence of several shots in which Dave Bowman searches for the replacement antenna part in storage was removed."

However, just because this footage has been unearthed, doesn't mean it will ever be available to the general public. Still it's interesting to learn that this footage that was presumed lost forever has now been discovered still "perfectly preserved." In Toronto, Trumball and Larson showed images from the never-before-seen footage which will apparently be included in a behind-the-scenes photo book that is being put together in place of the halted production.

CRYSTAL AUDIO PicoHD

Πρόκειται για το πρώτο Media Player της εταιρίας. Το όνομά του είναι PicoHD και το μέγεθός του δεν ξεπερνά τα 75 x 65 x 15 χιλιοστά, με βάρος μόλις 60 γραμμάρια.

Syfy Cancels Stargate Universe

Syfy announced today it will end its original action-adventure series "Stargate Universe" when the show returns with the final 10 episodes of its second season in the spring of 2011.

The "Stargate" franchise -- consisting of "Stargate SG-1," "Stargate Atlantis" and "Stargate Universe" -- has aired on Syfy since 2002.

The channel also recently cancelled "Caprica."

Limitless (2011)

George Clooney Starring in Alfonso Cuaron's 'Gravity' with Bullock

Heat Vision is reporting that George Clooney will star opposite Sandra Bullock in Gravity, which will put him back up in space like in the Solaris remake from 2002. Remarkably, these two actors haven't been in the same movie before. Sandra Bullock will star, along with Clooney, as the only two astronauts who survive a disaster on a remote space station and must make the long, grueling journey home to Earth.

Clooney's involvement doesn't make him one of the leads, as he (spoiler ahead) apparently doesn't last longer than the first act. Gravity is still a movie about one woman, it's just getting beefed up with big names in the "supporting" areas. With Clooney and Bullock on-board hopefully this means production on Gravity will finally move forward and Cuaron can shoot his ambitious $80 million sci-fi movie next year, as planned.
