Sin City 2 Will Start Shooting in Late 2010
Mania.com has a scoop from producer Stephen L'Heureux of Solipsist Films, who says that Sin City 2 "will go into production in the second half of 2010." But how sure is he? He also confirmed that this sequel would be co-directed by Frank Miller and Robert Rodriguez (thankfully, considering The Spirit was awful). Does this mean Sin City 2 may actually, finally, start shooting next year? Who knows?
Tropic Thunder's Etan Cohen Writing Men in Black 3 for Sony
This is also official confirmation that Sony is moving forward on making Men in Black 3, eyeing a start date in 2010 that "could go as soon as the spring." THR's Risky Biz Blog reports that Tropic Thunder writer Etan Cohen has been hired to write the script. Word is that Barry Sonnenfeld, who directed the first two, might be back. Thought they're unsure whether Will Smith will return or not, even though the buzz is that he's apparently interested and doesn't have another "go" movie lined up anyway. I'd hope they don't decide to make this without him, as it just wouldn't be the same. Tommy Lee Jones' involvement is also uncertain.
Anthony Hopkins to Play Odin in Kenneth Branagh's Thor! Anthony Hopkins / Odin
No, it won't be Robert De Niro or Jude Law or Brian Blessed, apparently Odin, Thor's father, will be played by none other than Anthony Hopkins in Marvel's upcoming Thor movie. THR's Heat Vision Blog reports that Hopkins is "in negotiations" to play the Norse god and ruler of Asgard in the adaptation being directed by Kenneth Branagh. We already know that the cast also includes Chris Hemsworth as the god of thunder Thor, Tom Hiddleston as his evil brother Loki, Natalie Portman, Jaimie Alexander, Colm Feore, and apparently Robert De Niro and Jude Law. Talk about a very impressive cast!
Κυκλοφορεί σήμερα η νέα Ubuntu
Η νέα έκδοση της Ubuntu διατίθεται σήμερα στο κοινό και φιλοδοξεί να διευρύνει το μερίδιο αγοράς που κατέχει η γνωστή διανομή Linux. Όπως είναι γνωστό εδώ και καιρό, η νέα έκδοση με τον κωδικό 9.10 έχει την κωδική ονομασία Karmic Koala κι εμφανίζεται βελτιωμένη στα σημεία σε σύγκριση με τη Jaunty Jackalope. Μεταξύ άλλων, όσοι την εγκαταστήσουν θα βρουν ένα νέο εργαλείο για τη διαχείριση των εφαρμογών, ενώ ο χρόνος που απαιτείται για την έναρξη του λειτουργικού είναι μειωμένος.
Το εργαλείο προσθαφαίρεσης προγραμμάτων Add/Remove αποτελεί πλέον παρελθόν και στη θέση του οι developers έχουν τοποθετήσει το Software Center. Σε αυτή τη φάση, το Software Center είναι ουσιαστικά ένα περιποιημένο Add/Remove tool, με εύχρηστο interface και καθαρή σχεδίαση. Οι δυνατότητές του αναμένεται να φανούν στις επόμενες εκδόσεις, όταν η Canonical θα ενσωματώσει σ' αυτό τις λειτουργίες του Synaptic, του gdebi, κάποια χαρακτηριστικά του Computer Janitor και ίσως τον Update Manager.
Ο χρόνος εκκίνησης των λειτουργικών συστημάτων είναι μια σημαντική παράμετρος για όλους, πολλώ δε μάλλον στο χώρο των netbooks, όπου το hardware περιορισμένων δυνατοτήτων σε συνδυασμό με ένα αργό λειτουργικό μπορεί να έχει απογοητευτικά αποτελέσματα στην εκκίνηση. Η νέα Ubuntu έχει ελαφρώς χαμηλότερο χρόνο εκκίνησης από τη Jaunty Jackalope, ωστόσο οι επιδόσεις της απέχουν παρασάγγας από την τιμή-στόχο των 10 δευτερολέπτων. Η κατάσταση αναμένεται να βελτιωθεί στις επόμενες εκδόσεις.
Άλλες βελτιώσεις στην Karmic Koala αφορούν τον GRUB2, καθώς και αναβαθμισμένες εκδόσεις του AppArmor και του εργαλείου κρυπτογράφησης.

Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time Trailer Description
The trailer for Disney's Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time will be seen in theaters on November 13th, but ComingSoon.net got a sneak peak at the upcoming preview of the epic action-adventure, starring Jake Gyllenhaal, Ben Kingsley, Gemma Arterton, Alfred Molina and Toby Kebbell.
The two-minute trailer starts off with a glimpse of the mythical land of Persia, which looks stunning, and then a brief look at the dagger that's enclosed in a glass case.
"Have you ever wondered how you could have found such a treasure? The gods have a plan for you. A destiny," we hear the princess saying as short clips of the scenes mentioned above play on the screen.
We then see Gyllenhaal jumping off a cliff and a few seconds later climbing a wall with arrows as his stepping stones. Someone shoots at him and he turns around looking nervous but annoyed as well.
"The sand turns back time," the audience is told a few seconds into the trailer. "Only the holder of the dagger is aware of what's happening."
A quick clip is is shown of the prince holding the dagger and turning into sand.
"Only the dagger can unlock the sands of time. There are those who would use this power to destroy the world," Arterton's character explained. "The only way to stop this Armageddon is to take the dagger to the secret guardian temple."
Although the footage we saw was brief, which made it difficult to see where the story is going, the rivalry and tension between the prince and princess was very clear. Their witty banter was entertaining and well-written.
"You really enjoy telling me what to do don't you?" Gyllenhaal's character sarcastically asks.
"Only because you're so good at following orders," the princess quickly snaps back.
"Don't press your luck. The Sands of Saint, they strike terror into the heart of all they cross," he replies.
"Such a noble prince - leaping to assist the fallen beauty," she says.
"Who said you were a beauty," he laughs.
"There must be some reason why you can't take your eyes off me," she says.
He then tries to say something but begins to stutter, not knowing how to respond to the princess' feisty comebacks.
Next up was a scene showing a wicked force holding a snake.
"The high temple is guarded by some sort of demon," the princess said.
The following scene was the two with a group of people walking. She asks where the dagger is and he tells her, "You're welcome to search me for it. You need to be very thorough."
She looked intrigued by his scandalous offer, but tried to pretend like she was irritated by him.
The final clip in the trailer was the prince fighting off a rather large snake and the mouth of the reptile was open and about to bite him.

Οι U2 πρωτοτυπούν και πάλι. Μετά την απευθείας μετάδοση της συναυλίας τους στην Καλιφόρνια μέσω του YouTube, οι διάσημοι Ιρλανδοί ρόκερς θα παραχωρήσουν συναυλία με δωρεάν είσοδο στο Βερολίνο, στις 5 Νοεμβρίου, εν όψει της 20ής επετείου από την πτώση του Τείχους.
